Privacy Policy

Usual is a memory of the services you use. That only works if you trust it, so this says exactly what it keeps, where, who can see it, and how you take it back.
Who is responsible
This app is operated by PNE Solutions inc, which is responsible for your personal information under Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) and Canada's PIPEDA. The person in charge of the protection of personal information can be reached at info@usualapp.ca.
What Usual stores
Your account: name, email address, and a password kept only as a hash.
What you write down: the services you add, who did them, what you paid, how you liked them, your preferences, and any photos or documents you attach.
The profiles you set up: people, pets, vehicles and properties, with the details you give them.
Bookings you make through Usual and, if a shop asks for one, the deposit paid for them.
A push notification address for this phone, if you allow reminders.
Where it is kept
Your data is stored in Canada (Montréal region) on infrastructure operated by Supabase, encrypted in transit and at rest. Photos are stored in the same region.
A copy also lives on your phone so Usual works without a connection. Deleting the app removes that copy.
What businesses can see
Nothing, until you share it. When you share a Usual you choose which parts are visible — preferences, history, photos — and you can revoke that at any time from the Usual itself. Revoking takes effect immediately.
A business can suggest a service to add to your Usual. Nothing is saved until you accept it.
When you book through Usual, the shop sees what a booking needs: your name, the service, the time, and the preferences you chose to share.
Readings by an AI service
When you ask Usual to read a receipt, a screenshot or a note, the text or image you chose is sent to an AI provider (Anthropic) to extract the service details. Only what you submit is sent; the provider does not train on it, and the result is shown to you to confirm or correct before anything is saved.
Payments
Deposits are processed by Stripe. Usual never sees or stores your card number; it keeps the amount, the status, and the processor's reference so it can show you what happened and refund you when a shop's cancellation policy says so.
Other services Usual relies on
Push notifications are delivered through Expo's notification service. If a shop connects its own booking system (for example Square), bookings you make there may be shown in Usual; Usual only holds what a booking needs.
Usual does not use advertising networks and does not sell or rent your information to anyone.
How long
For as long as you keep your account. When you delete it, everything — records, photos, shares, bookings, the push address — is removed immediately, and backups age out within 30 days.
Financial records that the law requires us to keep (a deposit, a refund) are kept for the period the law sets, and nothing more.
Your rights and your controls
You can download what Usual holds about you, correct it, or delete your account and all of it, from Settings — no request needed. The download is a data file: your photos and documents are listed in it, but the images and files themselves are not in it yet, and the screen says so before you ask for it.
You can also ask a question, ask for a correction, or complain at info@usualapp.ca. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
Usual is not for children under 14. We do not knowingly collect their information; if you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, Usual will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
